The Palace Gate Centre

Forty years ago, the Church bought an old wine warehouse adjoining the church, and created the Palace Gate Centre to serve the needs of the city of Exeter and express God's love in a practical way.  The Centre provides a versatile suite of rooms, that are used intensively by a wide range of community organisations, as well as by the Church.  It has two large halls, two lounges and a small meeting room.

The Palace Gate Centre is also the home of the Palace Gate Counselling ServiceCruse Bereavement Care in Devon andthe Exeter Jigsaw Library

The Palace Gate Centre has its own website where you can see the activities and groups that meet there, view the rooms available for hire and make a booking enquiry - click here to visit it.

Our Vision for the Centre is that South Street Baptist Church seeks to help people find a deeper wholeness and peace, believing that God cares for every person and is concerned for every aspect of our wellbeing.  Through the Palace Gate Centre we seek to express to all the unconditional love of God made known by Jesus.

A lift between the ground and first floor provides access for disabled people. There are excellent kitchen facilities, as well as facilities for projection in many rooms. The church itself is also available for hire and often used for conferences or concerts - please enquire about a booking through the Palace Gate Website.

Hundreds of people come into the Centre each week for our Dove Cafe, for counselling, to sing, attend a training workshop or attend one of the many anonymous fellowships that have found a home here. We aim to make the Palace Gate Centre a safe haven where people feel welcome and where they can find help and support.

A prayer leaflet is available from office@ssbcexeter.co.uk - we encourage prayer for each organisation that uses the Centre and for those who attend them. Our ministers act as chaplains to the Centre and are available to offer support to those who use premises.

New users of the Centre are always welcome - our Centre Manager, will be pleased to respond to enquiries -at  office@ssbcexeter.co.uk or on 01392 279485

Our Church is the current venue for the annual Devon Performing Arts Festival held in March and is used as rehearsal space by the Exeter Male Voice Choir and Exeter Choral Society. It is part of our mission to open our doors in welcome at every opportunity.
